The 2017 FASAVA Congress will feature an impressive array of veterinary experts from around the world speaking on a range of fascinating topics, as well as a packed social calendar of events that offer an exclusive opportunity to network and make valuable contacts. We spoke to a few delegates about what they were most looking forward to:

DelegatesDr Gretta Howard

Veterinary Surgeon, Turramurra Vet Hospital

“This will be my first time attending a FASAVA Congress. It’s being combined with the ASAV conference this year, so it's the 'go to' event for small animal practitioners in the Asia Pacific region.

"In the past the ASAV conference has always been an annual highlight for me as it is a way to get updated on current treatment recommendations and new drugs entering the market so that I can look after my animal patients better.

"We are bringing our two children with us to the Gold Coast and have hired a nanny while we attend lectures. I am really looking forward to showing them the beautiful Gold Coast beaches and taking them to Movie World. It is such a family friendly destination. I can't wait."

Dr Stephen Yeomans

Specialist Veterinarian, Vetnostics

“I’m excited to meet veterinarians from South East Asia. I’m looking to develop my business in that area so this is a great opportunity.

“I’ll be attending the FASAVA Congress Gala Dinner awards night. Never miss the opportunity to frock up and rock up.”

Dr Michael Kidd

Owner, Hurlstone Park Veterinary Hospital

“The speakers are looking very good. There’s a big range of topics, so there’ll be some great information to help me with my practice.

“I’ll be attending a couple of the dinners, because they’re always good fun. It’s nice when colleagues get together and there are lots of interesting stories.”

Bill Perry

Mackay Veterinary Hospital

“I hope that it’s a good mix of scientific program and social program. I’m keen to connect with a few colleagues face to face.

“There seems to be some really good new topics as well. Some of the ones that really stand out to me are people like Richard LeCouteur, Georgina Child, Stanley Marks... they are all fantastic speakers. So, I’m gonna have difficulty choosing which lectures to go to.”

“I’m going to have a couple of days off after it, just to sit on the beach and relax. Probably park myself over at Burleigh and enjoy it.”

Nina Coulthard

Veterinarian, Adelaide Vet Stirling

“I’m going to get to hear about a broad range of topics; there are just so many streams to attend. I haven’t managed to work out which ones I’ll attend yet.”

Dr Adrian Scipione

Veterinary Surgeon, Engadine Veterinary Hospital

“I’m looking forward to hearing some interesting information that I might not know, or some information to reinforce that what I’m doing is accurate.

“My area of interest is small animal surgery, so I’m keen to hear all the speakers covering surgery.

“I’ll be staying on a couple of extra days to spend some time catching up with friends.”

The 2017 FASAVA Congress is being held on the Gold Coast from 11 – 14 August.
